How do we engrave children's cutlery?
With 99% of all cutlery we sell, the customer chooses to have the cutlery engraved for free. We engrave all parts for free, so you don't pay extra to get the knife engraved too.
There are of course all kinds of variations possible, but we see certain choices frequently
- Name with underneath the date in numbers (01-01-2014)
- One or more names, but without the date
How is it engraved?
We engrave the cutlery with a laser engraver. This means that the name is ingraved into the cutlery, so that it can never come off and it gets a dark grey color. We do this ourselves in our shop, so we can engrave the cutlery within fifteen minutes. So you know for sure that the order (if ordered before half past 5) the same working day goes out the door.
How much fits on a children cutlery part?
The number of characters varies from cutlery to cutlery. Some cutlery has a lot of free space on the cutlery, while on other cutlery only a few characters fit.
We recommend that only a first name and date written in numbers should be included. Should the name consist of many characters or several names, the letters will be engraved smaller.
Children's cutlery with lots of space include FC Junior and Kikker.
Engraving on top/bottom
As most cutlery has a plate on the top we normally engrave on the bottom/back. This is the side that is not visible at a set table. Some children's cutlery has the option of being engraved on the top or bottom. This can be done on cutlery without an image or with enough empty space.
The top side is the side that is visible when the cutlery is on the table. So this is the side that is always visible.
Children's cutlery with space on the top include WMF Engrave, Keltum Caterpillar and WMF Knuddel.
Is the knife also engraved?
Yes, we engrave the knife also for free
Top font choices
We have a choice of different fonts for engraving children's cutlery. Below is a list of the fonts that are chosen most often and those that are chosen less often.

Can I use special characters?
We can engrave special characters such as ë è ę. However, it may be that the font you choose does not support all special characters. In that case, we will reach out to you to discuss the possibilities.
Are pictures and/or drawings also possible?
Drawings, images, hearts and smilies are also possible. We have many common icons ready in our database. Do you have your own drawing or image? Please contact us for the possibilities.
I got the children's cutlery elsewhere
We also engrave cutlery that has not been bought from us. We charge € 5 per cutlery item for engraving. You can come to our cookery shop in Amsterdam 6 days a week for engraving.
Not living in the area? Then you can also send it to us. As soon as we receive it, we will send you the engraved cutlery the next working day. We charge € 10,- for the shipping and handling.
Can I wait for the engraving?
Yes, our shop in the Kinkerstraat in Amsterdam is open 6 days a week from 09:00 to 18:00 (Saturday 17:30). There we can engrave the cutlery for you within 20 minutes (depending on how busy it is).
I want to order online, but I wish to pick it up in store
This is the fastest way. In step 4 of the checkout process you can choose "Pick up in the shop". When we receive your order it will be engraved as soon as possible and you will receive a confirmation when it is ready for you.

Normally, your order will be ready for pickup on working days (Mon - Sat 09:00 - 17:30) within half an hour.
The difference between normal and silver plated cutlery?
Most cutlery is made of 18/10 steel. This is a high quality stainless steel and is virtually maintenance free.
However, we also have a number of silver-plated children's cutlery. The cutlery has a silver coating. This gives the cutlery a luxurious appearance and makes it shine even better. The disadvantage of silverplated cutlery is that it has to be cleaned regularly and it is not dishwasher safe.
Silver plated cutlery cannot be engraved as deeply as normal cutlery. The reason for this is that air will get underneath the layer and it will bulge. This only happens when the engraving is done to deep. We use a special program for engraving silver-plated cutlery so this does not happen.
How will it be sent?
Once you have chosen a nice piece of cutlery and placed the order with us, we will immediately get to work for you. We check the order and engrave it the same day. The engraved cutlery is then checked again and polished to perfection.
After that we wrap the cutlery in nice giftpaper for the little one. We do this with reusable tape. This way you can check the cutlery upon arrival and close it nicely.

Did you enter a personal text? Then we will write it by hand on a cheerful card. This makes the gift extra personal; even if you choose to have it sent directly to the birthday boy or girl.
Once the cutlery has been sent, you will receive a shipping confirmation with a track and trace code so you can follow the package to the door. And are you often not home? Then we can also send it to a Pakjegemak location (such as the Albert Heijn, Bruna, Primera, Cigo and more) in your neighbourhood. You can then pick it up yourself whenever it suits you best.
